HTTPS

The secure version of HTTP; traffic between the browser or app and the server is encrypted.

Definition

HTTPS protects passwords, cards and personal data from being read or changed in transit. Testers check that every page and API call uses HTTPS and that browsers show no "not secure" or mixed-content warnings.

In practice

The login page loads over HTTPS, but the profile picture comes from an http:// address and the browser shows a mixed-content warning.
