Authentication
Also called: Login, Sign in, AuthN
Checking who a user is, usually with a password, a code or biometrics.
Definition
Authentication answers "who are you?" through login, one-time codes, biometrics or social sign-in. Testers check correct and incorrect credentials, lockouts, sessions and how the app behaves when a session expires.
In practice
Logging in with the right email but wrong password should show a generic error, and five failed attempts should temporarily lock the account.
