Boundary value analysis
Also called: BVA
Testing values at and just around the edges of valid ranges, where bugs love to hide.
Definition
Boundary value analysis (BVA) tests the values at the edges of each partition, because developers often make off-by-one mistakes there (using < instead of <=). You test the boundary itself and the value just outside it.
In practice
For an age field accepting 18-60, test 17, 18, 60 and 61 (and often 19 and 59 too).
