Clock skew
Also called: Time drift
The difference between a device's clock and the server's, which breaks time-based features.
Definition
Wrong device time makes TOTP codes fail, certificates look invalid and timestamps appear in the future. Testers change the device time on purpose to check.
In practice
A phone set 3 minutes behind generates authenticator codes that the server keeps rejecting.
