CRUD
Create, Read, Update, Delete: the four basic operations on stored data.
Definition
In a REST API, CRUD usually maps to POST, GET, PUT or PATCH, and DELETE. Testers chain them: create an item, read it back, update it, read again, delete it and confirm a final read returns 404.
In practice
POST /addresses → 201 with id 31; GET /addresses/31 → 200; PATCH → 200; DELETE → 204; GET /addresses/31 → 404.
