Working out which parts of a product a change could affect, to decide what to retest.
Definition
Testers read the change description, ask developers what code was touched and think about everything that depends on it. The result is a focused regression subset instead of retesting everything.
In practice
A payment SDK update means retesting checkout, refunds, saved cards and order history, but not the profile photo upload.
