Risk-based testing
Also called: Risk-based prioritization
Prioritizing testing by risk: how likely something is to fail and how bad the impact would be.
Definition
Rate each area's likelihood and impact, then test the highest scores first and deepest. It's how testers decide what to do when there isn't time to test everything.
In practice
Payments are high likelihood (new SDK) and high impact (money), so they're tested first; the 'About' screen comes last.
