Heuristic
Also called: Rule of thumb
A rule of thumb that helps you find problems or make decisions quickly, but can be wrong.
Definition
Testers use heuristics like 'too small, too big, just right', CRUD, or consistency checks (HICCUPPS) to generate test ideas and judge results. They guide thinking; they don't guarantee answers.
In practice
Using the Goldilocks heuristic, you try 0, 1, a normal amount and 10,000 items in the cart.
