Release candidate
Also called: RC
A build believed ready to ship, pending final testing.
Definition
If testing finds no blocking problems, the release candidate becomes the release. If it does, the team fixes them and builds a new candidate (RC2, RC3…).
In practice
RC1 has a crash on login, so the team ships RC2 a day later after retesting.
