Test plan
A document describing what will be tested, how, by whom, when, and what 'done' means.
Definition
A test plan describes the scope, approach, resources, schedule, environments, risks and entry/exit criteria for testing a specific project or release. It keeps everyone aligned on what will and will not be tested. In agile teams it is often short and lives in a wiki page.
In practice
The test plan for a new app release says: test on iOS 17-18 and Android 13-15, focus on the new checkout, skip the legacy loyalty screen, and stop testing when no open critical bugs remain.
