Software testing life cycle
Also called: STLC
The phases of testing work, from analyzing requirements to closing the test cycle.
Definition
The software testing life cycle (STLC) is the sequence of testing activities: requirement analysis, test planning, test case design, test environment setup, test execution and test closure. Each phase has its own inputs and outputs. It runs alongside the SDLC.
In practice
For a new "Pay with Apple Pay" feature, a tester reviews the requirements, plans which devices to use, writes test cases, prepares a test environment, runs the tests and finally writes a summary report.
